I just heard the verdict of the Brenda Martin case out of Guadalajara, Mexico and I am completely and absolutely Disgusted with the verdict of guilty. If you have not heard about this case just google her name and I'm sure you will find information on it in much more depth.
To put it briefly. Brenda worked as a cook for her boss (she had nothing to do with his business). He however, ran an internet scam fleecing approximately 5o - 60 million dollars from some 15,000 people. He was caught, arrested and sentenced to 10 years in a US prison, with his partners in crime. The Mexican's arrested Brenda and charged her as an accomplice. She has already spent 2 years in prison and just recieved another 5 year sentence.
Her ex-boss and his coherts have already given the judical system signed affidavits stating that Brenda knew absolutely nothing about the scam...she was simply his cook...and that's all.
The Canadian Government of Priminister Harper was approached for help and has yet to show up and back their own Canadian Citizen. While Harper on today's announcement of Brenda's sentencing spent his time in Mexico with another Blooming Idiot, George W Bush and the Mexican President discussing Nafta policies. Unbelievable!
The corruption and utter disregard that these 3 countries have for thier own citizens is a slap in the face of every person who tries to live thier lives in a decent humanatarian manner. This incident has made me so furious at my own Canadian government that I have decided to RENOUNCE my Citizenship this year and return to the place of my birth.
In the past 5 years I have seen the Canadian Government hand over more control to US companies than ever before. One such company MAXIMUS is now in control of stating who and who cannot have a passport issued to them and so much more. The Canadian Government has time and again broken it's own Charter of Rights and Broken the United Nations Charter of Rights numerous times.
Until every Canadian stands up or should I say WAKES UP! You will continue to lose more and more of your rights everyday that goes by. It coninueally stuns me when the majority of people in Canada react so apathetically to what's going on around them.
Every single Canadian should be standing behind Brenda Martin and outright boycotting Mexico period. Every journalist should be digging deeply into the Harper Regime to find out what he is truly trying to change regarding Canadians Rights and Ask Why the Canadian Government continues to break its own Charter of Rights and the United Nations Charter of Rights.
Brenda, My Thoughts, my support, are with you in your time of need. Don't do anything rash, there are Canadians working on getting you out of the Corrupt System of Mexico...even when your own Canadian Government couldn't give a flying F@#&*#K!
